Intelligence and critical thinking

This is sort of an extension of my last post, where I talk about intelligence and logic. Here I will talk about in more specifics what I think true intelligence is. I said intelligence is more about your potential to be smart about various subjects. You are born with this set in stone. You can't improve your potential. That said, I believe intelligence is more than just your potential, it's your aptitude to fulfill it. Just because you have the potential to be a scientist doesn't mean you have the mental aptitude required to be one. You can improve your aptitude to meet your potential as a person. There are various things at work here. Passion, talent, knowledge, motivation, etc. The more aptitude you have, the more intelligent you are. Thus if intelligence is aptitude and potential, we can say that your overall intelligence is:
your aptitude/your potential.

The bigger the resulting number, the more intelligent you are as a person. Of course, it's not possible for your aptitude to be more than your potential. This is why the most intelligent people are in fields like STEM. That field requires a high potential and thus a high aptitude. The ranking of different fields is admittedly relative. There's no objective qualifiers to a field being higher except needing critical thinking. And thus we get to the point. Your ability to think critically is your intelligence. Your aptitude specifically. You do have an overall potential to think critically, but your ability to think critically determined how high you can go, and thus is your aptitude. So what is thinking critically? It's your ability to question and think for yourself. How well can you naturally question things you are told? How much research does it take to be convinced of a view? Evidence? Critical thinking is your intelligence for every practical use of the word. We can't determine your potential until you hit it, so all we have to go by is your aptitude. Your ability to think critically.
